After he spent his childhood at the Baltic Sea, Holger Bodendorf completed his culinary training with distinction and then went on to hone his skills. After a first intermezzo at LANDHAUS STRICKER he worked at the renowned Landhaus Scherrer, the Hotel Atlantic in Hamburg, the legendary two-starred restaurant Petermann´s Kunststuben in Zurich and with Wolfgang Staudenmaier, also distinguished with two stars, at Da Gianni in Mannheim.
In 1992 he returned to Sylt. To Germany’s most beautiful island and fell immediately in love with it. The vicinity of the sea had always fascinated him. Holger Bodendorf started to work as a chef in Tappe´s Restaurant.
In 1996 he joined the Restaurant Veneto in the Hotel Windrose in Wenningstedt and obtained his first Michelin star there in 2000.
In 2001 he went to LANDHAUS STRICKER. Since then Holger and Kerstin Bodendorf have been running the 5-star property with the two restaurants SIEBZEHN84 and BODENDORF'S.
2003 - a Michelin star is now shining over the BODENDORF´S. Without interruption until today, 15 years in a row.
Other distinctions such as 18 Gault Millau points (out of 20), 4 stars in the Varta Guide, good rankings in Der Feinschmecker, in the Großer Hotel & Restaurantguide or in Gusto followed. Since 2003 the restaurant BODENDORF'S has held the “Best Award of Excellence" of the Wine Spectator. Last but not least, the “Chef of the Year 2018” secured a positioning amongst the best German chefs in the Schlemmer Atlas.
